Minecraft Tutorial 06 - Combat

Today we will be doing combating!

These are actually useful enough for you to survive without armor.
By the way, remember to mass produce your chickens for food!
Make sure your chicken is cooked before you eat, it restores more food points and there is no chance of getting poisoned. (Eating raw chicken meat can get you poisoned)

Minecraft Tutorial 05 - Knowledge Check

Today we are going to know more about the game.

We have started off and now we are going to know further into things.

Blocks

Blocks are the cubes such as dirt, sand, gravel, stone, cobblestone and more.

Blocks stops mobs from getting through it and sometimes seeing through it.

Leaf blocks can be seen through in fancy graphic.

Physics Simulated Blocks

Sand, gravel and ender dragon's eggs are physics simulated, they drop if the block below them is empty.

Tools and Weapons

Tools and weapons slowly break when you use them.

The rate of breaking is counted by the times used.

Hitting a mob uses one, using the tool on the correct block uses one, using the tool on the wrong block uses two.

The more you upgrade your tools (by making it with better materials) the higher the efficiency.

Tools and weapons can be made from wood, cobblestone, iron, gold and diamond.

Mobs

They are moving animals in the game, monsters are included.

Combat

During combat, you will be using two weapons: sword and bow

Bow can only be made out of sticks and strings, sword can be made out of cobblestone, iron, gold and diamond.

There are few types of strikes for swords : Normal, critical and knock back.

Normal Strike

When you left click to damage a mob

Critical Strike

When you left click to damage a mob while falling. Stars will appear.

Knock back Strike

When you left click to damage a mob while sprinting. Pushes the target further.

Defense

When you right click with s sword, slows the movement speed down.

For bows, there are only normal and critical strikes.

Normal Strike

Right click and release before it reaches max tension.

Critical Strike

Right click and release after it reaches max tension.

Furnace

A block that allows players to cook or burn ores.

It needs two items to work : one use to set up fire, another to be burnt.

Ores needs to be burnt in order to get ingots.

Crafting

Crafting is one and only way to make items.

There is a 2x2 crafting area in your inventory and 3x3 on the crafting table.

This is all you need to know now, we will be doing some combating in the next tutorial!

Minecraft Tutorial 04 - Chicken Farming

So we did this in the last tutorial:

You don't have to rush for mining, you have your entire life to mine.
I guess we need to get some food!
Make sure it is morning, or else do not leave the mine.

There are few kind of food:
Meats
Soup
Fruits

Fruits are like apples, which you might have came across while cutting down trees.
Meats are easy to mass produce (especially chickens)
The only soup that exist is the mushroom soup.
If you have been collecting chicken eggs, then your life will be easy.
Let's go out and get some eggs!

Once you have some eggs, you need some fences.
Please check the recipe at  http://www.minecraft-crafting.net/
Fences look like one block in height but it is actually one and a half.
No mobs are able to jump over it (except for some special cases)

The idea is to trap all the chickens inside and collect their eggs to produce more.
However, if you break one of the fences, the chickens will "leak" out.
We need a way to collect all the eggs without breaking a fence.

This is the concept:

F represents fences and X is nothing.
It can be as long as you want, but only leave one block wide space inside.
Then place a block somewhere at the end of the fences, and throw all your eggs at it.
If there is a chicken, you will have unlimited chickens as it will keep laying eggs.

Minecraft Tutorial 03 - Branch Mining

Alright! We are going to do some mining!
So, have we got a nice big room? If not, make one!
Make sure you have some kind of food and torches with you. (Try not to kill animals)
So... I guess we need irons more than anything. By the way, you should be using a stone pickaxe for everything already.
I guess it's too dangerous for cave mining right now, we will do cave mining after combat.
Now, in our nice big room, dig a staircase to level 40.
Use F3 to check your current height (the number after "y")
You should come across a lot of coal on the way down, grab them all and replace them with cobblestone so that you have a way up.
Remember to watch your steps, you might find a cave right under you.
Do not enter any caves, just ignore it and start building a main tunnel.














Alright, let's start with branch mining!
The idea of branch mining is to have a main tunnel, then make branches from it.

T represents tunnels, and B are blocks.
This way allows you to mine a big area without digging so much.

So now we have our main tunnel!
Make sure every branches have 2 blocks in between, no more or less.
Also make sure that your branches are not opposite of each other, you will not be able to find the main branch.













If you come across to this situation, quickly grab the ores and block the tunnel (make sure that you know where it is, so that you can do cave mining afterwards)

Make sure iron ores are burned with furnace to obtain iron ingots.
Mine until you find a cave, a pool of lava or when you don't feel like it anymore.
Do not continue on old branches, create a new branch every time you are going to mine.

Minecraft Tutorial 02 - Building a Mine

I hope it's morning, if not, keep breaking the block and put it back to check if it is morning.
If you hear spider crying, do not leave the hole.
Minecraft is all about mining and surviving, a mine is always the player's first house.
You might be thinking about why the grey things take so long to break and yields nothing.
They are stones and can be obtained by digging it with a pickaxe!

This website has MOST of the recipes
At the top right corner, you will see tools.
Pickaxe is the first from the left and it can be crafted by several materials!
For now, we use wooden pickaxe to get cobblestone, then we can start mass producing cobblestone!
Move to where you found the chickens, I hope you didn't kill them.
There is a cave on the right hand side and it should have coal and iron.

The stones with black spots are COAL
The stones with Pinkish spots are IRON
I don't actually know how to describe the colour of iron ores
Doesn't matter, with wooden planks, craft some sticks and a crafting table.

So this is how sticks and crafting tables are made.
Don't panic if you don't have 9 spaces, when you place (right click with block in hand) a crafting table on the ground and use it, you will be able to craft things that requires 9 spaces.
A mine is really simple, you just have to dig and expand the space.
There are few types of mining, you can read all that on your own, but i prefer branch mining.

This is a link to mining techniques.
Now make a pickaxe! Please check the recipe or remember it, it is really important.
Do not go to the cave, there will be monsters, I tried and met more than 5 before I even start digging.
Dig a stair case in any way you like at anywhere (Try to avoid caves), then when you are 6 or 7 blocks down, start expanding.
When you expand, you will get cobblestone.
Make a furnace and use it.
You will have two places to put your items.
On the top one, place some logs (I hope you didn't craft them all)
At the bottom, place saplings or sticks, it will then burn the log into charcoal.
Once you have one charcoal, take the sticks or saplings and replace them with charcoal.
This allows you to mass produce charcoal, which does the same thing as coal.
After that, make some torches with charcoal (Please check the recipe)

Right click to place torches, and you will have a nice big room to stay in!
This will be your mine and next tutorial we will be doing some mining!

Minecraft Tutorial 01 - The First Night

The first night is always hard, but we will fight through it!
Let's open our world!

We have sheep! Sweet!
But always thing wisely before you set up your home.
We always need wood for everything, always.
So let's find a place with wood!

left click to punch
hold left mouse button to dig, or break blocks
right click to use items

Simply turn right, go through the arc, climb on the first tree you see and you will find this sweet spot!
Now let's get some wood.
I can't upload that much pictures, but we will get started, then i will explain with words.
Note that this game is all about creativity, so you should develop your own world!
Let's now get some wood!
There are four types of logs, which does the same thing, but only the colour differs.

Big advice to everyone : when cutting a tree down, leave the bottom block so that you can stand on it.
That allows you to get more than one more log than you should have gotten.
Always have as much wood as you can because making torches and tools will use quite a lot.















Now we have some woods, let's try crafting them, press I and your inventory will open.
Click to pick up your wood and drop it in the crafting area. Any space of the four will do.
Wooden planks are the most needed resources you can ever find.
click the wooden planks to pick up, they can stack up to 64. Keep clicking to keep them stacking.
Now let's head for some food!
Food is normally chickens, because they are the easiest to mass produce.
Resources is the kind of thing like coal, iron, wood...
So let's get moving!














Chickens spawn a lot in snow biomes for some reasons, and they are evil!
You will know the reason soon.

Walk all the way to the edge of the hills and you will see these chickens.
Pick up any egg that they drop. If you see caves on the way, keep out.
Caves are always dark, and monsters spawn in dark places.
It should be almost night time, let's find a place to stay!

Dig three blocks down and hop in, then cover the opening with one of the dirt blocks you just got.
Do it fast, you do not want monsters to jump in and start biting you.
This is the safest and easiest way to get through the first night.
Next tutorial we will start lighting places up with our torches!

Minecraft Tutorial 00

Minecraft is a game that can be played online or offline.
It is a sandbox game which aims at survival.
You are able to dig and place blocks, and craft things out of your current items.
Minecraft requires a lot of creativity, but it is really worth playing!

On single player, click on "Creat new world" and you will enter this screen.
There is this thing called "seeds" in "More World Options..."
Using the same seed every time will get you the same world.
If seed is not entered, it will randomly generate one for you.
For now, let's use same seed to make things easy.
